Joining the flood of Democrats lining up to take a swing at Donald Trump’s presidency, Senator Cory Booker has launched his bid as well.
Choosing the first day of Black History month to make his announcement, the 49-yea-old is the fourth U.S. senator to join the race.
He was raised in New Jersey before enrolling in Stanford University and then Yale Law School. After graduating he returned to New Jersey and became the mayor of Newark, the state’s largest city, in seven years time.
He has begun his campaign calling for people to come together, saying, “I believe that we can build a country where no one is forgotten, where no one is left behind.”
It looks like it won’t be long before Democratic candidates start to trip over themselves from the sheer number of people running.
