Is Trump’s Tax Plan a ‘Home Run’?

Economist Larry Kudlow praised President Donald Trump’s proposed tax plan Sunday, calling it a “home run.”

“They’re going with the campaign tax-cut plan that Steve Moore and I and Steve Mnuchin and Steven Miller and others worked on for many many months to slash business tax rates. I can’t think of anything better for business, better for wage earners, better for economic growth than Trump’s 15 percent tax cut plan. I just think it’s terrific,” Kudlow told John Catsimatidis on his New York AM 970 radio show “The Cats Roundtable.”

“I think it’s a home run,” he added. “I know there [were] disputes about it and there were contradictory statements made in recent weeks, but we won. I think this is a terrific victory for the president. He set a marker on tax reform and economic growth.”

But what about the rest of us? Half of the Country pays no taxes at all. The Fairtax plan or any flat sales tax switches the taxes to Consumption instead of income. This way the corner drug dealer will be paying the tax along with the 30 million Illegals. Everyone has skin in the game. Just taxing the crap out of working Americans lets put the weight on all persons in the Country, legal or not! We finally have a chance to get rid of the IRS and the RINOS in Congress will not even consider it!

    • Wayne Peterkin

We agree that the Fair Tax would be optimal. You get it. Sadly, Washington doesn’t and prefers to play politics rather than doing what would be best for the nation.

  • Marine68

If Kudlow likes it, we are in deep deep doo doo.

  • Wayne Peterkin

No. It is not a “home run”. But it is better than what we have today. If it’s the best that can be passed, then I hope it’s passed. But I favor the Fair Tax first and foremost while lacking that would like to see all business income taxes reduced to a max rate of 15% or less. In fact, I favor zero. If we want a robust economy with maximum growth, we need to make America the very best place in the world to own and operate a business. With necessarily high labor rates, that means the lowest possible tax rates and modest regulations to offset the labor cost. The goal is to keep jobs and companies right here where we need them with profits high enough for expansion and higher wages. Too many people, and virtually all Democrats, vilify businesses as an enemy to be controlled when they are really the entire economy; all of it. Every single job depends on business, and should we destroy them or continue to hamper them with dumb government policy, we will wind up no better than Sudan, Ethiopia, or some other third-world cesspool.

A dud for the vast majority of Americans. Why are we so gullible and entranced by a leader who is clearly a grifter?

    • CBUJAN

I guess you really don’t understand economics. You explain what is wrong with it.

      • Robert Weltzien

Tax cuts to the top 1% do not and have never stimulated economic growth. History has shown this. Either you don’t read history or you don’t understand economics. Where will the lost money come from? Social Security? Medicare? Medicaid? You can’t get blood from a stone. Tax cuts must be limited to the poor and middle class and social
Programs left unmolested, offset by tax increases on those making over 500K/Year and increases in estate taxes. The USA has the lowest personal tax rates in the developed world. How can you root for the ultra wealthy and not realize that tax reform as presented to us doesn’t solely benefit tRump and his grifter henchmen? I am sorry you are either so ignorant that you lack the understanding of how this all works or you are so wealthy you are ready to say screw everyone else. Remember, the money has to come from somewhere and the extreme selfishness and prevarication of our so called president means he cannot be trusted, EVER.

    • CBUJAN

Apparently you haven’t read his tax plan. the ones that are going to benefit the most are lower income , the middle class and businesses.

      • Robert Weltzien

For a pittance. At the cost of social programs. Not worth it.

        • CBUJAN

Then you have no argument ! You must work for the lying media.

      • Robert Weltzien

No, just smarter than most. It’s set up to benefit the King.

      • Robert Weltzien

Fox News and Breitbart? Oh no, their word is gospel.

        • CBUJAN

98% of republicans says the media lies, 70% of independents say the media lies, 39% of democrats say the media lies. I know where you fit in.

          • Robert Weltzien

And our so called president is the master prevaricator of all. -Or is that too complex a word for you to understand? You folks are so easily swayed and led off a cliff like the sheeple lemmings that you are.

          • CBUJAN

People like you are destroying America a very proud Republic. Many Americans have died so idiots like you can spill their hate. You are one of those who rather have open borders so anyone can enter our country with their drugs, commit crimes against Americans and then protect them with the sanctuary cities. With the cost of illegal immigration we could build that wall ten times over. You are a poor excuse for an American and this is the last time I will debate you, you will never admit the truth.

          • Robert Weltzien

And where do you gets your stats? How do you verify them? There are lies, damn lies (tRump) and statistics (news media, some outrageous). Perhaps reading several sources might help. All I know is that anyone who believes tRump is clearly a …..

      • Robert Weltzien

And president Trump is so forthcoming. Trust the veracity of his every word!

      • Robert Weltzien

I guess I had better learn to be a successful thief!

        • CBUJAN

Just like your fellow democratic thugs that are rioting?

      • Robert Weltzien

You’ve been drinking too much methanol. In fact, drink some more and we can cull the herd of more subnormals.

      • Robert Weltzien

So sad that we were once a great country, now, perhaps headed to civil or nuclear war at the hands of a madman.

      • Robert Weltzien

Sir, you are off kilter and headed towards a stroke. Our country already has been destroyed so you are a little late in making that statement.

  • CBUJAN

This is the best tax plain that we have had in years.

  • ny2223jv

The part that doesn’t allow the deduction for State taxes is double taxation and it is BS.
