Some celebrities really have a hard time with trying to make sense.
Despite criticism, heavy backlash and advice from her peers, actress Alyssa Milano not only refuses to stand down on her calls for a “sex strike,” but actually thinks it’s gaining traction.
Milano originally called for women to stop having sex in response to Georgia passing legislation that outlaws abortions once a fetal heartbeat can be detected.
She tweeted, “Our reproductive rights are being erased. Until women have legal control over our own bodies we just cannot risk pregnancy.”
“JOIN ME by not having sex until we get bodily autonomy back,” she added, “I’m calling for a #SexStrike. Pass it on.”
Both the right and left found reasons to mock the ignorant strike.
Progressives were outraged that the strike enabled the sexist perception that women are objects whose value is based on their ability to have sex.
Conservatives however, blasted the move for ironically endorsing their calls for more responsibility on the side of women who would use abortion as a form of birth control.
In any case Milano is continuing to push her #SexStrike.
“We must take a stand against the @GOP legislating our bodies,” Milano concluded. “That means you too, men! Fight with us. We need you.”
