Border Apprehension of Families Spikes

The apprehension of families and unaccompanied alien minors by Border Patrol agents along the southwest border increased substantially in June. The total apprehension of illegal aliens increased by 10 percent during that same period.

While apprehensions increased in this latest report from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), they remain at historic lows, CBP officials pointed out.

The arrests in June of what the Border Patrol references as Family Unit Aliens (FMUA) increased over the previous month by 47 percent. Agents apprehended 2,322 FMUAs in June – up from 1,580 in May.

Agents arrested 1,961 alien minors in June. This compares to 1,480 during the previous month, a 32.5 percent increase.

Fiscal year comparisons show different changes between the two categories tracked by CBP. The apprehension of UACs between October 2016 and June 2017 fell by 24 percent (43,200 in FY 2016, 33,036 in FY 2017). However, the arrest of FMUAs increased during that same period (51,143 in FY 2016, 63,411 in FY 2017).

Fiscal year-to-date numbers are skewed higher by the surge of apprehensions which occurred during the first two months of the year where illegal aliens rushed to cross the border in advance of the 2016 presidential election.

FMUA’s from El Salvador make up the highest percentage of those apprehended. Border Patrol agents arrested 21,950 Salvadoran families so far this year. These apprehensions are followed by Guatemalans (18,957), Hondurans (18,677), and Mexicans (1,846).

Alien minors apprehended by Border Patrol agents came mostly from Guatemala (11,176) followed by El Salvador (8,228), Mexico (6,576), and Honduras (6,523).

Apprehension in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Sector continue to lead those of other sectors along the U.S. border with Mexico. Of the 1,961 UACs apprehended along the entire border, 962 (49 percent) were arrested in the RGV Sector. Nearly 62 percent (1,435 of 2,322) of the FMUAs arrested by agents occurred in the RGV sector.

    Build that wall!

OUR SOUTHERN NEIGHBOR NEEDS TO BE HELD TO ACCOUNT FOR ITS CIVILIANS…………….

  • LLJINTL

Skip the investigation…arrest, indict, sentence to life, strip bennies, jail. Why keep rehashing it…clear the board, keep draining the swamp.

In my opinion Mexico should be held responsible for those immigrant aliens who enter their nation to get to the USA. And they are culpable for their own folks who try entry to the USA. Use our laws to negate these border jumpers. They all should be getting in line to do proper imigration.. Don’t cut them any slack…

President Trump Demanded Funds For The Border Wall Be In This Budget, But From What I’ve Heard Money For The Wall Was Left Out Of The Budget, Thanks To The RINO’s..

    WE NEED “THE WALL”

  • Pamela H

Although the wall will help tremendously, it will NEVER stop the northward flow completely…..the increase in number of apprehensions is evidence that President Trump has put CBP/Border Patrol Agents back to doing what they are supposed to do…..intercept aliens trying to enter

the US at other than legal points of entry…….this after 8 years on non-apprehension polices by BARRYHUSSEIN and his gangsta administration sworn to destroy the American people and our Republic……Tie in Work for benefits welfare and there would be no reason for illegal entry; welfare costs would drop and employment with holdings would go up…..WIN!! WIN!! WIN!! propositions……you would still have ICE Agents to ferret out employers who hire under the table……if a person is hired under the table, he/she would no longer be eligible for welfare and the employers would contine to be fined as now!!!!

      • ARJAY

        So we do NOTHING?!?!

Just allow them to come in with NO CONTROL/REGULATION?!?!

Sounds like a plan to me. A real BAD “plan”!

        • metheoldsarge

I didn’t say do nothing. Even if the wall is built, we still have to keep watch on it and not get a false sense of security. People will still find a way through.

          • ARJAY

OK, you made it sound, in your post, that it was a waste of time and resources to build the wall. Granted, whatever we do to stem the tide of ILLEGAL crossings we WILL have to physically monitor the situation.

  • Kenneth Fichtl

Notice how fast they killed the idea of using solar energy on the wall to supply the states and Mexico with low cost electric The climate Change green Energy program is a fraud just like everything else. It is as perfect a solution as it gets. Right of way easement already granted much of the wall in place close to sub stations so power can be dropped easily massive work project for both Nations The development of the corridor to supply the workers with housing dining fuel supplies Better than the Interstate highway system small expense return for generations . Makes too much Common sense Our Feds would never do that It. Also would be Socialist for the Government would own the Power They would be jumping

The building of the border wall and the repeal of Obamacare were two of the highlights of the 2016 campaign. I believe that Trump and the Republican politicians were elected and/or reelected based mostly on those two promises. Repeal of Obamacare has not been completed and the wall has not been started or even funded yet.

If Obamacare is not repealed, and the wall has not, at least, been started, we will have two major promises broken. A lot of voters are not going to be happy. Remember when George H. W. Bush said “Read my lips” in 1988? We all know what happened in 1992 as a result of that broken promise. Trump and many Republicans can kiss reelection good-by. The Democrats will regain full power over Congress and the White House by January 2021. In the meantime the people are left holding the bag. BOHICA!

LOL…give me that list of accomplishments in the 8 years of Gay Barry.

      • metheoldsarge

You want Obama’s accomplishments for his eight years in office? Here they are:
According to him “Our Country is Stronger and More Prosperous Than It Was When We Started.”
Let’s take a look at this “GREAT JOB!!!” President Obama did starting with his first 34 months:
Here are some of his firsts:
First President to have a social security number from a state he’s never even lived in.
First President to publicly bow to Americas enemies while refusing to salute the US flag.
First President to coddle America’s enemies while alienating America’s allies.
First President to Require All Americans to Purchase a Product From a Third Party.
First President to hide his medical, educational, and travel records.
First First President to Tell a Major Manufacturing Company In Which State They Are Allowed to Locate a Factory.
First President to Spend Billions of Dollars on ‘Shovel-Ready’ Jobs– and Later Admit There Was No Such Thing as Shovel-Ready Jobs.
First President to Terminate America’s Ability to Put a Man into Space.
Let’s take a look at some of his other great accomplishments:
It took 43 Presidents almost 230 years from 1789 to run the National Debt up to $10.627 Trillion. When the national debt was was at over 9 trillion, then Senator Obama said it was unpatriotic to have let that happen. It only took Obama eight years to run it up another $9 Trillion to $19 trillion and still rising.
In the Senate he never did anything or even constructed legislation. His only other job was a community organizer.
The number of food stamp recipients went up by over 35% and still climbing.
The number of unemployed went up by 25% and still rising. American citizens at the poverty level has gone from 39,800,000 to 43,600,000. A 9.5% raise.
Obama helped his buddy Jeffery Immelt. at General Electric set up their light bulb operations in China and close their plant in this country? Today you can’t find a single GE light bulb made in the USA. General Electric also plans to close their divisions that makes X-ray equipment and jet engine manufacturing and ,move them to China. Think of the job loss.

Even though he bailed out two auto companies, he didn’t stop them from closing some plants and relocating them overseas. Since the bail out GM has built factories and research centers in China. Now GM is building 70% of their cars and trucks outside the USA and a large percentage are built in China. More jobs gone. Google it yourself and do your own research. Here is a good place to start. When you watch this video think about all those out of work UAW members that once built these models. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lvl5Gan69Wo

The list goes on but I think you get the picture. He seemed to be doing everything he could to put the economy in the tank. Not my idea of a great job.

When Obama had no explanation for problems (Which is quite frequent) he pointed the finger on anyone else but him. In his first four years in office he blamed just about everything wrong on Bush. He still blames everyone but himself. You can only blame others for your own mistakes for so long before people start to see through it. Obama may have been handed a bucket of worms but so has every new President since John Adams took over from Washington.

Don’t take my word for all this. If you can read this you have the ability to do your own research, I did check out all this information in these sources:
U.S. Energy Information Association, Wall Street Journal, Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, Federal Reserve, U.S. Treasury, Heritage Foundation.

Truman used to say “The Buck Stops Here!” With Obama it seemed to be “The Buck Starts Here!”

        • gvette

Thanks for the chuckle. I’ve read this list before. DemonRATS don’t like it much, though.

  • enubus

Build the wall and make Obama pay of portion after what he has done to our border.

  • Septemberswhisper

I keep reading these stories where we are apprehending people, but nothing on us deporting them. Last I heard, we were still bringing them in, after we apprehend them, then giving them court dates and letting them go. I have yet to see any solid numbers or proof that we are deporting them or any numbers on those actually leaving on their own. The democraps want them for votes, and the republicans want cheap labor, what we want is of no concern to them.

  • jim jones

Round up the one’s living comfortably here and ship them the hell out, then the one’s coming here to join them may decide to stay home. ENFORCE THE LAW and prosecute the enablers.

  • Norm

Build the wall. But don’t forget; the REAL THREAT in America is NOT illegal
    Mexicans. It is Islam.
    and its followers. #Alert #Awake #Not fooled #Alive

    • ARJAY

They ALL are a REAL threat!!

  • [email protected]

These people needs to be deported they are here illegally and have not applied to immigration to apply to come here. They expect us to feed clothe give them housing and medical services at the expense of the tax payers, this is not right for us so they need to be sent home or prosecuted jailed tried and sentenced to prison and then deported their children needs to be returned to the Mexican authorities.
