Liberals are becoming increasingly alarmed with former President Barack Obama’s behavior following his exit from the presidency –specifically his constant, high-rolling vacations.
His actions have prompted criticism from liberal figures such as “Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver, Democratic strategist Pat Caddell, a former adviser to the Carter administration and Dr. David Michael Smith of the Houston Socialist Movement — not your typical batch of Obama critics. And it doesn’t stop with them.
As reported by Fox News Politics, “The left-wing media is also worried about Obama’s luxury vacations.”
Well, what has Obama done to spark such uneasiness?
Fox News compiled some of the more indulgent parts of Obama’s lavish post-presidency — involving everything from yachts to Italian fighter jets.
“Since leaving office in late January, Obama has visited late actor Marlon Brando’s private island; the Four Seasons in Bali — where rooms cost upward of $2,000 per night; a Palm Springs estate; Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island; the exclusive Mid Pacific Country Club in Oahu; the 13th-century Borgo Finocchieto in Tuscany; and the Rising Sun, Hollywood studio mogul David Geffen’s private yacht,” Fox News reported.
The Borgo Finocchieto location that Obama visited was no ordinary destination, even for vacationers. It’s a restored medieval hamlet, complete with villas, almost two dozen bedrooms, and owned by former Italy Ambassador John Phillips, an Obama appointee, according to Fox News.
Obama reportedly touched down at a nearby airport in a private jet escorted by Italian Air Force fighters — another bit of extravagance.
Kendra Thornton, owner of luxury travel agency Royal Travel and an expert in the industry, said the destinations are “some of the most luxurious travel destinations in the world,” according to Fox News.
