House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is having a hard time getting control of Democrats but her recent comments aren’t going to help.
Pelosi is barely keeping her party together as members call for impeachment of President Donald Trump.
But while Pelosi has said that het House will not take up impeachment at this time, she then accused Trump of staging a “cover-up.”
“We believe that the president of the United States is engaged in a cover-up,” Pelosi told reporters. “In a cover-up. And that was the nature of the meeting.”
The Democrat made the announcement in response to President Trump stating that he would not work on infrastructure until congressional investigations against him were halted.
“Get these phony investigations over,” Trump said.
That isn’t a cover up but a fact of the current political climate. So far Democrats have opposed nearly every action that Trump has taken and in some instances directly undermined him with injunctions form federal judges.
What point would there be to beginning negotiations if half of those involved refuse to honor the legislation?
It’s hard to see how Pelosi will be able to calm Democrats as she makes such outrageous claims.
