Ruling For Alabama Teen Who Joined ISIS

A ruling has been reached regarding the case of Hoda Muthana, who left Alabama at 19-years-old to join ISIS.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has announced that Muthana is not considered a U.S. citizen and will not be allowed to return to the United States.

“Ms. Hoda Muthana is not a U.S. citizen and will not be admitted into the United States,” Pompeo said. “She does not have any legal basis, no valid U.S. passport, no right to a passport nor any visa to travel to the United States.”

While no official details have been released regarding how the conclusion was found, some point to the possibility that Muthana’s father was a foreign diplomat when she was born in Hackensack, New Jersey. If true this would exempt Muthana from birthright citizenship under the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Muthana’s lawyer released a handwritten note in which Muthana expressed how she had made “a big mistake” by rejecting her life in the Untied States. Unfortunately for her, big mistakes are usually accompanied by big consequences.
