President Donald Trump and his administration are renewing their stand against Obamacare after siding with a court ruling that labeled the health care law as unconstitutional.
Originally the ruling was made last December by Texas-based Judge Reed O’Connor. While the lawsuit was spurred by conservatives, O’Connor ordered a stay as progressives lodged an appeal.
However now that the Department of Justice is fully backing the decision things could start to pick up.
“The Department of Justice has determined that the district court’s judgment should be affirmed,” it said, adding: “The United States is not urging that any portion of the district court’s judgment be reversed.”
The Affordable Care Act, what many consider to be former president Barack Obama’s legacy, is a blemish to Republicans who view the legislation as extreme government overreach.
However any healthcare changes will be felt by millions of Americans, making the process of repealing the act difficult at best.
