Trump’s Defense On Huge Budget Bill

President Trump on Tuesday defended the controversial $1 trillion-plus budget deal heading for a vote – as he and congressional Republicans face conservative anger at what critics see as a cave to Democrats on everything from sanctuary cities to funding for Planned Parenthood.

“The reason for the plan negotiated between the Republicans and Democrats is that we need 60 votes in the Senate which are not there!” Trump tweeted, adding that the solution is to elect more Republican senators in 2018 “or change the rules” of the Senate filibuster.

He added a warning shot: “Our country needs a good ‘shutdown’ in September to fix mess!”

Republican and Democratic lawmakers made the budget deal, announced Monday, in order to fund the government through September and avoid a shutdown later this week. But despite Republicans controlling the House, Senate and White House, the deal is widely perceived as benefiting Democratic interests and priorities, while sidelining some of the items on Trump’s wishlist.

Electing more GOP Senators has not been the end all to be all thus far, so that is a mute resolution. Changing the laws in the Senate concerning the requirement for a majority vote, is also a serious mistake, when one political party has the necessary majority. That is how we got the ACA bill, remember?

If a president wishes to create laws and make changes through Congress, which should be the only way to run a representative government, then he should propose legislation that is desired by the majority of our citizens and which members of both political parties can cast a positive vote for. If the president has the necessary support of the citizens, it is they who will put pressure on their legislators to vote accordingly. It is the citizens that can also replace legislators, who do not listen to their constituency. That is how a representative government works.

It behooves the current administration, to propose legislation that will improve the living conditions of it’s citizens and if it does so, it will be a successful administration.

There is not defense in my mind for a “Continuing Resolution” of this magnitude for
such a short period of time. It does not address any of our problem but is a “gimmie”
for the Democrat Socialist who are responsible for the massive debt problem we are
facing currently. When you look at what has been revealed in it so far I fail to see
where it will do any thing to reverse the direction of our economy at this time except
to increase out massive debt. Time to quite playing and get back to the way a
BUDGET is supposed to be done. Item by item and cutting cost when and where
we can from useless programs and entitlement that have ruined out nation. The
Government is entrusted to provide Security for our Nation, deal with foreign Governments and provide for the common defense out our citizens. The are not suppose to be
dictators over us but remember they WORK for the TAX PAYERS and are supposed
to represent us when in office. This is something they have apparently forgotten
over the past 8 years and even longer as they make massive grabs for power
over us. Either they wake up or they will be removed from office by the VOTERS
in short order. The time to act responsible is running out fast and there will be
repercussions for their lack of action for the People of the United States.
