Recently, House Democrats voted in defense of local governments that permit non-citizens to vote in municipal elections.
Republicans had proposed changes in the language of H.R.1 or the “For the People Act” so that it would state, “allowing illegal immigrants the right to vote devalues the franchise and diminishes the voting power of United States citizens.”
However, since Democrats are all for stacking the deck in their favor, they voted against the change by 228-197. Also note that six Democrats voted with Republicans while one Republican voted against.
It’s not all bad however as the Washington Times reported that the failure does not change the fact that federal election law still bars non-citizens from voting in federal elections. Making the only concern about progressive cities allowing non-citizens to vote in municipal elections.
